Daughters of Jerusalem, do not weep for me, but weep for yourselves and for your children.
Book of Luke
Good Friday in the San Miguel area is marked by a number of processions. The procession at noon from La Parroquia through the streets of El Centro and that returns to La Parroquia is known as The Holy Encounter and The Priest’s Passing. The priest represents Jesus and carries the cross in the Holy Encounter procession, which was begun by Father Luis Felipe Neri de Alfaro in the mid-18th century. Father Alfaro began the tradition of the priest carrying the cross.
